FAQ’s:

1) How can I get more info about these rides?

2) Where do these rides start?

  • The flyers will have 2 locations, the start (where we meet) and the pit stop (halfway point)
  • As this ride gets bigger and bigger parking might be an issue for the “park and riders”, we are
not responsible if you get broken into. It has happened on other rides I have been on, so I personally  like parking a little bit away and riding to the meeting place. Plus, parking can be a drag so parking a little away won’t hurt.

3) Who can attend?

  • Anyone who can ride
  • Anyone who will ride responsibly
  • Anyone who will not start drama
  • Solo ride recommended age is 11+ years. (Bike Trailers/ trail-a-bikes are your friends if you have little ones)
  • Invite your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and that girl or guy you think is cute.
  • Please no four-legged family members unless they are riding. (No dog on leash while you ride, it’s just not safe for you or your little guy)

4) I am far from a “Lance Armstrong” cyclists, is this really-really something I can do?

  • Yes, this is all new for all of us. You  know that sound when you open a Snapple bottle, that sound is this Fresno Bike Party thing, it is new to all of us. We are all going at our own pace, you can do this ride.
  • Doesn’t matter what kind of bike, trike, unicycle you bring, just make sure you know what to do if you get a flat. YouTube will be your friend. Educate yourself, stop by ANY local bike shop, they can give you some pointers on what you need to have. Doesn’t hurt to have a little kit going since you are going to fall in love with these rides and will need it forever!

5) I am blowing up your email and no one has emailed me back, what gives?!

  • We are so happy that you are so excited about FBP and we promise it’s not that we are trying to ignore you, it’s just that we all have our jobs, families, Dr appointments and we still have to feed the dogs and make sure little Timmy does his homework and and and… Did we mention facebook is the best way to get a hold of us?!
  • You know these volunteers, you say, “This will be fun, it will be a blast!” and then they are like, “Work… you didn’t say anything about actually working, all you said was that I had to ride my bike, and look pretty for a prom ride in the spring?!” Ughhh… sorry in advance. :)

6) I am afraid to ride at night, are you ever going to also announce a day Fresno Bike Party?

  • Heck yes, heck yes we will.
  • But… if you are just saying that because you know you need a pair of lights for you bike, let me suggest that you will be making the best investment. Not only with the light you buy, but the relationships you make with your local bike shop. If you are going to be a Fresno Bike Party hardy you have to get the gear that keeps you safe. Front white bike like, 250+ rating or higher. I have a 650 and I look like a Honda coming down the road, you know why. Because I want a car to think I’m a Honda. :)

7) Do I have to wear a helmet?

  • If you are 18 and over you are considered grown to make that decision: From someone who had not just one, but 2 hard head crashes without a helmet because my I didn’t want to mess up my hair, I know– dumb right?! I’m going to say this. The point of wearing a helmet is only to prevent your skull from making contact with the pavement, another bike, a poll and possibly a car. The helmet takes the brunt of the fall.
  • If you are 18 and under you are required to ride with a helmet: Parents can get cited and pay up to a $300 ticket, in a cash strapped city like ours, I highly recommend you invest $15-50 on a children’s helmet. Also, thrift stores carry tons of helmets, but some are a little banged up and have hairline cracks, please keep that in mind when looking.

8) I have an idea for a ride, I want to help, I have an event coming up… can you help me promote it?

  • Awesome, we love ideas!
  • Cool, we can ALWAYS use extra FBP crewbies.
  • Let us know how we can help you build this city and make it even more amazing!
